Sunday to sunday

Let me tell you the story about the mural I created for my favorite Café in the Lower East Side, Manhattan.

The neighbourhood I live in is a very diverse one. It is breathing creative vibrance and I feel like everyone is welcome here. So it was the aim to reflect this in my artwork.

Since I moved here in 2016 I always loved watching the pigeons drawing their peaceful circles in the air. It kind of calms me down and takes all the stress of the busy city away from me for a while. So there had to be a pigeon in my painting since it became such a significant symbol of my neighbourhood for me.

Seriously, who does not have a dog in NYC? Sitting at the café I always get spoiled by free cuddles and lots of love from all the passing dogs. So the second animal was obvious to me.

Let´s get to the third animal with the most emotional story. I grew up with this cat, named Roberta. She was by my side the first 14 years of my life. I remember her waiting at the door for me when I came home. In the morning she slipped under my blanket only to share her calming purr with me until I had to get up. Then we both shuffled yawning to the bathroom were she watched me patiently getting ready for the day. She was a part of my family and so I decided to honor her in my artwork. Who would have thought that there would be a memorial for Roberta on a rolling gate in NYC one day!

At Sunday to Sunday all kinds of different people come together and share a precious moment, drinking coffee, having a fancy cocktail or a delicious meal. No matter if they are a business pigeon, a cool dog or a fashion cat.
